Sheila Werleman is a 55-year-old artist who resides in her hometown of Siribana, Santa Cruz, Aruba. Her passion for illustrating began during a coloring hour at school, where she discovered the joy of having free time and a wide array of colors to explore. She started her career working at the Department of Education, contributing to the book "Kitrin di Florin".
Currently, Sheila focuses on her independent projects, including the Zeerorica.com website and YouTube channel, which offer coloring pages, word puzzles, and stories for visitors to enjoy. Through her work on seven children's books, Sheila discovered that stories can be conveyed through various mediums, such as books, movies, and songs. This realization sparked her curiosity in animation and storytelling.
Presently, Sheila is producing an animated story centered around Zeerorica. This is not her first venture into animation; her initial foray was with "Trio Cadushi". As part of Book Week, Sheila will showcase this animation and provide insights into the process of illustrating an animated story. Her unique perspective involves infusing animal life into human experiences. Recently, she held her first digital art exhibition at the Biblioteca, titled "Happy Birthday Cododo Blauw".
